Dr. Yu Zhang received his Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from Monash University, Australia in 2002. He worked as a Postdoctoral fellow at National Institute of Standards and Technology before joining New York University College of Dentistry as an Assistant Professor in 2005. He is now a full Professor with tenure. His research interests include the development of functionally graded ceramics and nanostructured materials for damage resistance, aesthetics, and bioactivities. Dr. Zhang received 5 NIH R01 grants, as well as an NSF grant. He is the recipient of the Arthur R. Frechette Award of IADR. He was selected as an AADR Fellow in 2017 and was elected as the President of the Dental Materials Group of IADR in 2018. Dr. Zhang has published over 100 journal articles and several book chapters. He also holds 3 US patents.
