As dental implants have become a standard of care for tooth replacement, dental professionals are faced with patients seeking implant treatment. The increased demand for dental implants and the access to online information brings the increased need for the dental team to be aware of the details surrounding dental implants. Whether implants are placed in office or only restored, the best light is shed on the practice when any team member can explain the basics of implant design, surgery and the restorative process. This course will provide an overview of dental implants, their indications and contraindications, as well as surgical and restorative overviews that can be readily passed to the patient.
Upon completion of this presentation, participants should be able to: 1) recognize who may be an implant candidate; 2) discuss the surgical process that patients can expect to undergo to have a dental implant placed; and 3) explain the process and expectations of restoring a dental implant.
