Dentists and Laboratory Technicians have a symbiotic relationship in their attempt to provide the best care/restorations to patients. Unfortunately, these two groups often function in isolation without a good understanding of which each other is doing on daily basis. This is especially true in today’s rapidly changing tech heavy, CAD/CAM environment.
Upon completion of this presentation, participants should be able to: 1) explain the challenging divide between the dentist’s clinical procedures and the role of the laboratory technician; 2) discuss the metamorphosis of “traditional” techniques in the CAD/CAM era; and 3) recognize the “gaps” in knowledge and communication between dentists and laboratory technicians based on experience in operative dentistry, fixed prosthetics and the dental laboratory.
