Advanced Digitally Driven Occlusion-Based Jaw Reconstruction: Improving Functional Outcomes

Upon completion of this presentation, participants should be able to: 1) describe conventional surgically intuitive use of bone containing free flaps in jaw reconstructions as well as some of the limitations of these procedures for free flap reconstruction of the jaws; 2) explain how digitally-driven surgical design and simulation may be used to create an occlusion-based digital workflow that provides the fully guided ART procedure for BCFF design that integrates osseointegrated implant installation, 3) discuss how a digital workflow can be used to additive manufacture surgical tools for the occlusion-based approach to BCFF jaw reconstruction; 4) recognize how the occlusion-based digital workflow with the ART procedure may be used to rehabilitate irradiated patients with implants installed in the bone containing free flap as a primary procedure, 5) explain how the use of SDS in the ART procedure has emerged as viable technology in jaw reconstruction to provide improved outcomes of accuracy, function, cost effectiveness and considerably reduced treatment times.
