“Throughout its history, AO’s spectacular social events at our Annual Meetings have been the stuff of legend!” said AO President James C. Taylor, who was highly instrumental in the organization and successful deployment of the 2019 President’s Reception.
This phenomenal complimentary AO event was held last evening at a preeminent Smithsonian location, the National Museum of Natural History, which boasts the largest natural history collection and is the most popular natural history museum in the world.
AO registered attendees enjoyed complimentary hors d’oeuvres and cocktails with their colleagues from around the world while viewing permanent exhibits in Oceans Hall and Mammals Hall, which will present the epic story of how humans have evolved over six million years, a one-of-a-kind interpretive exhibit of the world’s oceans, walk through time to explore scientists’ findings about America’s last dinosaurs
An exhibit of particular interest was the Hope Diamond, one of the Museum’s most popular permanent exhibits in the Hall of Geology, Gems and Minerals. This exquisite, 45 carat deep blue diamond, with a history that dates back to the mid-1600s and as a result attracts millions of visitors annually.
